Zhejiang Education International Exchange Association, Higher Vocational Education Chapter, Hosted its 2019 Annual Meeting in Jinhua Polytechnic

From June.5th to June. 6th, Jinhua Polytechnic hosted the 2019 annual meeting of Zhejiang Education International Exchange Association, higher education chapter. Shen Xuesong, the vice secretary-general of China Education International Exchange Association, Shao Xubo, the head of the academic department of Confucius Institute, Asia-Africa Branch, Jiang Shengxiang, president of Zhejiang Education International Exchange Association, Wang Zhenbin, the head of International Cooperation and Exchange Department of Zhejiang Education Department, Sukha SongklanakarinPrincipal of Vocation Education, East Division, of the Kingdom of Thailand, Liu Binwu, Changjiang Scholar and Specially-appointed professor and dean of the College of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University, Christina Kira, the vice dean of Jinhua Polytechnic Wintec International College, Hu Zhengming, party secretary-general of Jinhua Polytechnic, Principal Liang Kedong, and 46 other experts from higher vocational education, more than 100 people in total, attended the meeting. The president of Zhejiang Business College, Zhang Baozhong, hosted the opening ceremony.



Jiang Shengxiang gave an address first. He explained the significance of education from the depth of internationalization, summarized the achievements of international cooperation and exchange made by higher vocational colleges in Zhejiang, and gave suggestions for higher vocational education. He emphasized that we should start from internationalization, and use self-advantages to perfect the idea of “bringing in” and “going out,” and contribute to the nation’s diplomatic strategies and socio-economic development while improving ourselves. 

Hu Zhengming gave a welcoming address. He introduced the specialties of Jinhua Polytechnic to the meeting participants, especially the achievements regarding the development of departments, competitions among disciplines, integration between production and education, scientific research and innovation, cultural education, and International Exchange and cooperation. He also acknowledged the help and support from China Education International Exchange Association, Zhejiang Education International Exchange Association, Zhejiang Education Department, and other sister colleges, and welcomed the guests participating in the meeting.

The president of Zhejiang Education International Exchange Association and president of Zhejiang Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Ding Jinchang, gave the 2018 annual report of Zhejiang Education International Exchange Association, briefly introduced the operations of the association in the past year, and summarized the exchanged programs made by higher vocations colleges in Zhejiang. The college members of the association also reported their budget spending and commended the active members of the association in 2018.

Shortly afterwards, Sukha Songklanakarin, Principal of Vocation Education, East Division, of the Kingdom of Thailand, introduced the operations of occupation and language training center (Thailand Education Point) of One Belt One Road Initiative; and expressed his acknowledgement and expectation for the One Belt One Road education cooperation. The meeting also hosted the appointment ceremony for Sukha Songklanakarin, which appointed him as the expert advisor.

During the second session of the meeting, Shen Xuesong, the vice secretary-general of China Education International Exchange Association, and Shao Xubo, the head of the academic department of Confucius Institute, respectfully gave lecture “Searching Means for International Cooperation for Higher Vocational Education under One Belt One Road Initiative” and “Combining International Mandarin Education and Vocational Education under One Belt One Road Initiative.”

The next day, the hosting party also invited Professor Liu Hongwu, who gave an expert lecture on “Exchange and Cooperation for Sino-Africa Vocational Education Against the Backdrop of One Belt One Road Initiative.” The expert lecture series were hosted by Chen Hairong, the vice president of Jinhua Polytechnic.

Afterwards, Christina Kira gave an expert lecture on “Partnership among Higher Vocational Education Colleges: New Zealand as an Example.”

The success of the meeting built a platform for Sino-Thai cooperation under the One Belt One Road Initiative, and established a great starting point for Zhejiang Province to promote new school-corporation cooperation and building “silk road colleges.” Particularly, the expert lecture series and international expert reports demonstrated Jinhua Polytechnic’s advanced means and ideas of running schools under Sino-foreign cooperation, which also set an example for other colleges in Zhejiang that aim to use “going out” as a founding principal, as well as guided the direction for the internationalization of higher vocational colleges within the province.
